The National Life Insurance Company, a Fortune 1000 company, was established in Montpelier, Vermont back in 1848. They were one of the first mutual insurance companies in the United States. They are licensed to do business in all of the 50 states in the United States and the District of Columbia. National Life Insurance offers investment vehicles of Life Insurance, Annuities and Mutual Funds to individuals, families or businesses. They take pride in their commitment to the customer. National Life Insurance has been providing assistance to consumers during difficult times since the Great Depression and as recent as the tragedy of the World Trade Center. They are great supporters of the military and they are heavily involved with many local Vermont Nonprofit Organizations providing Vermont citizens with homes, heating, health, education, along with arts and recreation.
Dr. Julius Yemans Dewey, M.D. was one of the original founders of National Life. The company’s first claim was submitted on July 26, 1850. On January 1, 1999 National Life was converted from a mutual company to a stock life insurance company. It is now also referred to as National Life Group. They continue to focus on long-term obligations to their policyholders.
They have now diversified their original company from a start up Flagship Company in Vermont, into businesses who have the same consistent philosophy of helping consumers and businesses plan for their future. Each company is built with the same commitment as the original office in Montpelier, Vermont.
